Correctly Use the Light, Talk with the Light

Light is the soul of the photography, so we should pay attention to the light changes, including the intensity of light, and the directions of light, and then talk with the light with heart. For instance, the sunset dyes the sunset clouds red, a symbol of romance; dark sky shows cold grey tone, a symbol of melancholy; a beam of sunlight from the shade of a tree releases happy and cheerful mood.
Distinguish the intensity of the light:
Hard light is often from single light source, like sun, spotlight, flash lamp and single lamp bulb. Under this sort of light, the subject can have big contrast and extrude the details and quality. You can use this sort of light to gain documentary effect. Conversely, diffused light causes softer light quality, which includes the indirect light in the room, outdoor shades and cloudy day. Under this light, it is perfect to take portrait photography and shoot quiet outdoor scenery.
Pay attention to the angle of the light
The different angles of light can cause different quality of the subject, so that the shape of the subject would be extruded or weakened. The tone of the photo, pleasant or depressed, also depends on the angle of the light. The light from the top or side of the camera (often called the front light), shall decrease the sense of hierarchy of the subject, because the front light is unfavorable for building the highlight and shadow. The better light source is side light with 45° against the subject, so as to shoot the better shape and details of the subject. When the light is from the back of the subject, it will cause backlight and the subject will be dramatic in the backlight. When shooting portrait, the hair edge of the portrait will cause beautiful profile light in the backlight.
If the lighting effect is not good, use free photo editing software to make adjustments to the image in the later stage.
